City Council

Logan City Council is comprised of:

  • The President of Council,
  • Four Ward representatives, and
  • Three At-Large representatives.

City Council Members are all citizens elected by residents of the City of Logan, and serve a two-year term. Council Members elected in November take office in January of the following year. The President of Council presides over City Council and all City Council meetings. The President pro tem assumes the duties of the President in his/her absence.

The City of Logan is a statutory city regulated by the Ohio Revised Code. As the City of Logan’s legislative body, City Council approves and oversees the City’s annual budget and expenditures. Logan City Council’s responsibilities also include the establishment of local laws. 

City Council meetings are held in Logan City Council Chambers located on the first floor at 10 South Mulberry Street, Logan, Ohio 43138. All City Council meetings and Committee meetings are listed online and on the public notice bulletin board in City Hall, 10 South Mulberry Street, Logan, Ohio 43138.

All meetings of City Council are open to the public with the exception of Executive Sessions during which Council members may discuss specific types of business as defined by the Ohio Revised Code. Executive Sessions are for discussion only, since any and all formal actions must be taken at a regular or special meeting.

City Council Clerk

The Clerk of Council is appointed by City Council and serves the seven members of Logan City Council. The responsibilities of the Clerk of Council include:

  • Attends all meetings of City Council,
  • Prepares and posts agendas,
  • Takes meeting minutes, and
  • Posts the meeting minutes. 

The Clerk posts all City Council meetings, special meetings, and committee meetings online and in City Hall on the public bulletin board.

Logan City Council, through the Clerk of Council, will prepare, make available and/or copy public records, upon the request of any member of the general public. The Clerk of Council shall make all records available for inspection or release within a reasonable period of time from the date of a request pursuant to the City of Logan Open Records Policy.

Meeting Dates

  • The Logan City Council Meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. 
  • All meetings are held in Council Chambers at 10 S. Mulberry Street in downtown Logan. (Entrance to the building is on Main Street)
